POST-MEETING

When we left Dr. Winick's office, I felt much more at ease concerning Ashley's treatment and prognosis than I had prior to the meeting. I honestly believe that we have chosen the best treatment option from a medical perspective. But I also know that we are counting on a power higher than conventional medicine for ultimate healing. We are putting our trust in God to get Ashley through this. I believe that God often answers prayers for healing through the skilled hands of knowledgeable doctors and through the wonders of modern medicine. But it is still God who is behind the healing, and He can certainly work outside the realm of modern medicine to bring about healing as well. We simply look to Him for wisdom and strength, and then do our best to face life one day at a time.

As we left the hospital, we received a phone call from a lady at church who has kind of adopted Susan and me as her children. She was anxious to learn how our meeting had gone, and she invited us to come over to their house for supper. We did, and had a wonderful time. We got home after 10:00 PM, and I sat down at the computer to begin reading and answering the day's e-mails. I stopped to help Justin with his homework for a little bit, then went back to work on e-mails.

A VISIT FROM OUR CHURCH ELDERS

This evening, the elders from our church came by our house, along with their wives, to visit with us and find out all the details of Ashley's treatment plan and prognosis, and to express to us their love and concern. We had a very enjoyable visit, after which each elder in turn led a prayer on behalf of Ashley and our family and the doctors who will be treating Ashley. We were very touched and deeply moved by the love of these godly men, and we greatly appreciate their spiritual leaderhsip.
